HEERF Higher Education Emergency 救援 Funds

As part of the Higher Education Emergency 救援 Fund (HEERF) 杰克逊的大学 received funding through the Coronavirus 援助, 救援, and Economic security Act (CARES), the Coronavirus Response and 救援 Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA) and the American Recovery Program (ARP).  The use of these funds is detailed below.

As part of the Higher Education Emergency 救援 Fund (HEERF) 杰克逊的大学 received $1,946,067 in funding through the Coronavirus 援助, 救援, and Economic security Act (CARES), 额外1美元,946,067 under the Coronavirus Response and 救援 Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA) and $6,853,673 under the American Recovery Program (ARP) to be used to provide emergency grants to students.  These funds can be used for costs associated with attending college or for emergency costs that arise due to the coronavirus.  These costs include items such as tuition and fees, 食物, 住房, 课程材料, medical and mental health care, 或者照顾孩子.

  • HEERF funds require that institutions prioritize students with exceptional need, such as students eligible to receive Federal Pell Grants, 在颁发HEERF基金时.  然而, students do not have to be eligible to receive Federal Pell Grants to receive HEERF funds.

  • Award continuation will depend on availability of funds.

Phase One Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in the Summer 2022 semester.
  • Must have a FAFSA on file for the aid year that includes the semester being awarded (Summer 2022).
  • Must have an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) up to $40,273.
  • High School dual enrolled students and those enrolled in early college programs are not eligible.
  • Students will be contacted by JC email and 的地方 if they are eligible for these funds.

Phase Two Eligibility Requirements

  • Students who do not receive an award based on an EFC less than $40,273 may apply for Emergency assistance by completing the Emergency Assistance Request Form.
  • Must be enrolled in the semester they are requesting funds for.
  • Must have incurred expenses related to higher education or emergency costs associated with the Coronavirus pandemic.
  • Students will be contacted by JC email if they are approved for these funds.
  • Department of Education guidelines allow eligibility for these grants to students who are refugees, 寻求庇护者, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) recipients, 其他的梦想家, and similar undocumented students.
  • High School dual enrolled students and those enrolled in early college programs are not eligible.
  • Corrections Education Program (CEP) students would not typically have expenses eligible for the grant.  然而, if a CEP Student is released as a result of the coronavirus, remains enrolled as a student in the program under the Second Chance Pell experiment, 并且有合适的开支, 他或她可能有资格.

Awards will vary from $920 to $1,725 per semester based on need and enrollment level. Students awarded with an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) up to $40,273 or students that are awarded based on an application and enrolled at the following levels will receive

  • 紧急援助补助金 will be issued a refund via a paper check or eCheck (if signed up for eChecks) unless student has opted to apply the Emergency Assistance Grant to their outstanding account balance.
    • Phase I students will receive (via email and 的地方) a link to an approval form if they wish to apply the grant to their outstanding account balance.
    • Students applying for an Emergency Assistance Grant during Phase II can elect to apply the grant to their outstanding account balance via the application form.
  • Awarded funds will disburse after the add/drop date of a student’s first course.
  • Students should expect to receive funds 10 days after funds are disbursed to their student account.
  • We encourage students to sign up for e-Checks to receive their funds more quickly.

As part of the Higher Education Emergency 救援 Fund (HEERF) 杰克逊的大学 received $1,946,067 in funding through the Coronavirus 援助, 救援, and Economic security Act (CARES), 另加6美元,168,753 under the Coronavirus Response and 救援 Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA) and $6,262,704 under the American Recovery Program (ARP).  These funds can be used to defray expenses associated with coronavirus (Including lost revenue, reimbursement for expenses already incurred, technology costs associated with a transition to distance education, 教职员工培训, 和工资). A portion of the institutional funds are being used to provide scholarships directly to students to reduce the cost of online courses. It is estimated that during the Spring 2020 term 952 students at 杰克逊的大学 are eligible to participate in Title IV programs and therefore are eligible to receive an emergency financial aid grant. It is estimated that during the Fall 2020 term (9/30/2020) 2,458 students at 杰克逊的大学 are eligible to participate in Title IV programs and therefore are eligible to receive an emergency financial aid grant. It is estimated that during the Winter 2021 term (3/31/2021) 2,390 students at 杰克逊的大学 are eligible to participate in Title IV programs and therefore are eligible to receive an emergency financial aid grant. It is estimated that during the Spring 2021 term (6/30/2021) 1,107 students at 杰克逊的大学 are eligible to participate in Title IV programs and therefore are eligible to receive an emergency financial aid grant. It is estimated that during the Fall 2021 term (9/30/2021) 2,513 students at 杰克逊的大学 are eligible to participate in Title IV programs and therefore are eligible to receive an emergency financial aid grant. The College has also been awarded $1,080,587 under the Higher Education Emergency 救援 Fund (HEERF) – Strengthening Institutions Program which will be used towards increased costs of operating the institution resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
